In one of our workshops, we do an acknowledgement exercise where participants create a cycle of loving, supporting, and empowering each other. Then they walk through a process where they actually experience God in each other.
The result is a very profound state of oneness. People experience a connection with each other and with life that is beyond words. Upsets and problems disappear. All that exists is a deep state of love, freedom, and inner peace.

Then we look at the nature of this state. People discover that, in this state, the circumstances of life have no power. Fear and upset cannot exist. Judgment disappears and the past has no relevance. Even the ego and the concept "me" disappear. All that exists is love.
When you are in this state, you are happy, alive, and free. You are positive, confident, creative, and very effective. You flow with life and great things happen around you. When you are in this state, you are living in the light.
The opposite
The opposite state is one of separateness. When we are in this state, all our focus is on the circumstances of life. We are convinced that happiness and upsets come from outside of ourselves.
We then go through life trying to force people and life to be a certain way. We fight, resist, hang on, and withdraw. We think this will somehow bring us the happiness that we seek, but it doesn’t.
Instead of creating happiness, we create a life of fear, upset, and suffering. We destroy love, create problems, and make life very difficult. This state is referred to as living in the darkness.
Although both states are always present, you have a choice as to which one you live in. You can live in the light or you can live in the darkness. Obviously, the opportunity of life is to live in the light.

Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. We live in a culture of darkness where all our focus is on the circumstances. We then get caught up in the circumstances and lose sight of who we are.
To live in the light, we need to break out of the illusion of darkness. There needs to be an awakening. We need to know, deep in our heart, that there is a light to live in and we need to know how to live there.
There are different ways to accomplish this. Our weekend workshop, Return To The Heart, is one of the best. It is a quick and easy way to get grounded in the light.
Steps to living in the light:
- Find activities that put you back in the light and do them often. This recharges the batteries to your soul. It keeps you from getting too caught up in your circumstances and makes you more effective in life.
- Develop your ability to flow with life. Fear and upset pull you out of the light and tend to make your situation worse. When you flow with life, you see clearly and are very effective.
- Clean up your life. When aspects of your life aren’t working, they pull you out of the light. Cleaning up your life may take some work, but every step along the way makes your life more enjoyable.
- Open your heart and express your love. When you go through life expressing your love, you create a life of love. You feel better about yourself and better about life.
- Go for your dreams. When you have something exciting to go for, life becomes an exciting adventure. It adds joy and spice to your life. It gives you direction and purpose.
- Have your life be about serving. No matter what you do for a living, you can have your life be about making a contribution. When your life is about serving, life takes care of you.
- Find your life purpose. When you are living your life purpose, you are living your passion. You are also making a contribution. You feel fulfilled and know you make a difference.
- Develop your spirituality. As you connect with a power greater than yourself, you tap into the source of miracles. You can be guided and shown what to do
